Why is it that poor people are always helping poor people?
Rich people tend to be on the sociopathic spectrum, that is why we have stupid dickheads like Musk saying insane things like “empathy is the fundamental weakness of western society”.
While ignoring the fact that empathy is a huge strength, if not the biggest strength we have in the west.
They are too stupid to realize that while empathy makes a society bend under extreme pressure, an unempathic society would break.
The funny thing is that empathy can very well be seen as quite selfish, sure, you might help others without requesting payment, but that means that you have taught others that they should help you without payment as well.

The way I look at it is that I help other people because I want to live in a world where people help each other. It’s a moral ecology. The person I help might never help me back. They might not even know that I helped them. However, it does reinforce that moral ecology, and it also makes me feel good.
Sure, you could frame that as “selfish”, but that would be bending the definition of selfishness to the point of absurdity.

All fair points, and I’ll gladly admit that I enjoy taking exploring the edges of logic and concepts
