Even a non-nuclear war with china is a terrible idea. They have 1.4 billion people and are the global manufacturing hub. If for some reason the war stayed non-nuclear the US would still be completely screwed if the war didn’t end in the first month.

What does a successful intervention look like here. “stand there and let us bomb you, you aren’t allowed to strike back at us with ICBMs because that would be unfair. We only wanted to fight you in this theater of war where we don’t have anything at risk beyond our navy.” Ludicrous. The idea that the US should intervene is so obviously born out of decades of US imperialism¹. You’ve gotten so comfortable with the idea of attacking functionally defenseless countries that you’ve forgotten that some countries can fight back.
