21·8 days agoThere’s a part of me that wants to believe that Trump is basically a double agent meant to be so blatantly corrupt and awful, taking advantage of every system in the US, that it finally wakes the US up and to realize how fucking awful everything actually is, almost like penetration testing.
This is how you learn you’re colorblind.

2·11 days agoNgl, given how much the average transfemme enjoys tech and building 40k minifigs, I think they would get some enthuastic volunteers. Hell, a lot of them will bring their own cages.

2·15 days agoUnironically, Senator Armstrong would have been far better than anything we’ve been stuck with in the past 30 years. Starting forever wars, war crimes, shady MIC dealings, and trafficking minors is just par for the presidency at this point, and he at least holds to his principles. Really, he could easily run as a centrist Dem since he wasn’t raping the kids and just making child soldiers from them.

20·19 days agoAs much as it’s not apparent in the way the majority of Christians act, if they actually followed any of the actual biblical tenets, they’d be pretty far left. While it’s framed through a biblical lens, Talarico supports trans/immigrant/minority rights (love thy neighbor, etc.), explicitly anti-wealth (camel passing through the eye of a needle), and is overall insanely progressive coming from a place like Texas.
Fortunately for you, while there’s definitely some genetic component to it, it’s definitely not the only factor by any means. I’ve known some very intelligent people who believe some very dumb shit.

7·22 days agoEven if he wasn’t planning on it, the thought process always seems to be there. “They’re going to round us up into camps (because that’s what I would do in that position)” “They’re going to start a war to stay in power (because that’s what I would do in that position)”. Regardless of actual position or power, the vile thoughts of these people always seem to leak out in the form of an accusation.

20·24 days agoSure, I’m not saying it’s necessarily a good thing that we’re still using it, but recognizing and treating it as a serious carcinogen rather than something benign goes a long way to improving the amount of harm it causes

87·24 days agoStill is, honestly. We still use asbestos in a ton of stuff, but we’re just generally a lot more careful about using it fortunately, and not doing as many open-air asbestos shoveling competitions upwind from the schoolyard.

Nick Shirley, the “Minnesota Somalian daycare fraud” guy. If you watch him talk, or do much of anything, it is pretty clear he’s not particularly sharp.
At least in my group of trans friends, we semi-jokingly use the term “girltwink” for women that tend to be smaller and more “traditionally feminine”.

News@lemmy.world•ICE agents keep accidentally shooting themselvesEnglish
6·1 month agoHonestly it makes sense. Most incidents are due to complacency with rules/procedures. A new guy joins and follows every rule to the letter, but more experienced people think "Well, I’ve gone all this time without an incident and bent the rules a little here and there, and it’s not been a problem.
You see it happen all the time working around heavy machinery. The new guy gets trained on the Limb Mangler and is absolutely terrified of it, so he follows every rule to the letter. The experienced guy has worked with the Limb Mangler for 10 years and knows that the correct process for un-jamming the de-gloving reels takes like 45 minutes and is a PITA, he also knows that you can quickly wiggle the jam loose with a pair of pliers and get it up and running without a stoppage at all. Everything is fine, until it isn’t, and suddenly you’ve got skeleton hands because you didn’t feel like taking time to properly de-energize and LOTO tag the system.

Malort is so much worse than just bitter though. It’s like a mix of cheap artificial mint and burnt rubber. It’s probably one of the most disgusting things I’ve ever tasted, and that includes pure Bitrex.
