3·10 days agoI myself have not learned/do math the “proper” way, whatever that mean. But I kind of mean that even Freya Holmer herself who didn’t learn math formally but by autodidact/self-taught, she does math properly by writing her own equations before implementing it to code.
As I don’t always really know how to write/read equations, I approach math in more programming ways. I mostly deal with graph where x is time, length, or something else that is iterable. Then by that x I want to have y like size, position, angle, color, or other data to present given current x.
But as much as I hate math in school, now knowing that solving these problem can be beautiful, I kind of wish I can do math much better because imagine the satisfaction when I can solve more complex stuff.

I follow earthquake notification account on mastodon. In the past 2-3 years, I noticed there are a lot of earthquakes in Almaty (Kazakhstan). Though I never really look at its magnitude, so maybe they’re not that big.
I just checked, appened as recent as

Also when the bot posts, it posts an image of the epicenter & is surrounding map (such as the parent post of the linked post). And everytime a zoomed-in map of Chile/west coast South America, I go “this look like the Levant but it’s not very familiar, oh it’s Chile”

It’s the implementation (such as in UK) requiring government ID, making it sound more like blatant data collection.
I’m honestly not the best person to talk about this. But also not every user in a website/social media has to buy something, hence not everyone has ever given their payment info.
But from tiny bit reading on recent essay on the lobbyist of the OS-level age verification law, being Facebook behind it, they kind of want to offload this work to OS so that they themselvs (social media services) don’t be the one who does this, apparently because that may violate some regulation. I don’t remember the details sorry.
As for the motives, why’s everyone suddenly obssessed with verifying everyone’s age since 2025, who knows. But I do have concern that prosecuting critics on the internet will be easier if everyone is well profiled.
