Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Do moderators have special understanding?
3·12 days agoI am actually rather curious: what communities are out there using Usenet boards?
But at the same time, you are signaling that you give money to a phone where is OK to actually change what it runs without much questions (for how long? Not sure). In a way, it’s an incentive to do something positive (even if it is google).
Also as someone mentioned, getting second hand phones is possible although I understand it can be a big gamble at times

2·14 days agoI get what you’re saying, but how exactly the whole IP rotation is done in your case? How did you manage to have it accessible at all times even when your home IP changes? In my home I actually have ipv6 which I am not sure if it does not make things more difficult

1·14 days agoIf you check my edit that is kind of what I was hoping to do from the start: have a hop server (or stepping stone, both terms apply), and from there I do what I need to do

PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•PlayStation May Be 'Backing Away From Putting Their Traditional Single-Player Games on PC'English
13·18 days agoI’ve seen way too many times people getting a console because of an exclusive. Now the thing is, we are entering on a very dry hardware season where prices gone to shit (and yes consoles also increased prices), so does Sony really thinks people will be super willing to get an overpriced console on the current economy because of a single exclusive? Sounds like a losing strategy
That for me is incredibly strange. Basically means for the Netherlands a massive change was made in the original medium. If it makes it better or worse I can’t tell, but I would personally always check the original to understand better what was the original intent of the show (which I plan to do with this one. I need more stop motion animation in my life)
Can anyone remind me where this animation comes from and the name? I am a sucker for stop motion kind of animations

2·23 days agoMy definition of refurb is anyone that actually has a store and only deals with this stuff. Examples are western digital themselves or Seagate, or shops like true base

Technology@lemmy.world•AI blamed again as hard drives are sold out for this yearEnglish
81·23 days agoFor me hard drives could potentially be bought second hand. However, it is is not coming from someone who does this stuff at a professional level (refurbished in other words), I am not sure if I can trust it. Not because of the quality but because what was in it. Every time I get a refurb drive I have the bad habit to check what was the previous data if readable. One day I am sure I will get a nasty surprise…

If you would like to go on a different route, a mini PC with opnsense is also a good choice. If you happen to have a small form factor PC somewhere that can be added a nic card to have at least 2 Ethernet ports, this would totally work

Technology@lemmy.world•Lawyers increasingly have to convince clients that AI chatbots give bad adviceEnglish
1·27 days agoLaw in particular is such a gnarly subject that you really want to have someone who knows what they are saying about anything. And even then they can be wrong too

You may be half joking, but I’ve discussed this many times with my partner. Society, by today’s definition, do not reward at all having kids. However, for a society to keep going you **need ** children, so wtf is supposed to happen? No children, society just grows old at at some point you have a massive decline in the younger brackets? And then is just old folks yelling at clouds? Also, another detail, the mono parental lifestyle we have nowadays is actually quite recent. And I do think is very much impossible to have the expected amount of children on such system
