One word: chaos engineering!

Sure, arch has a steep learning curve, but in the long run easier to use than others since it has better documentation.
Since you’re already doing a fresh install, might as well create the root partition as a BTRFS with opensuse-style subvolumes for easy snapshotting and rollback. And since you’re so close might as well also add LUKS1 encryption across the partition, since TPM is untrustworthy for REAL security. You’re going to be using a grub config with rd.luks params and a protected keyfile so you don’t have to decrypt the partition twice per boot like some scrub, of course.
Of course, technically there is nothing wrong just a plain arch install as long you’ve devised a proper opsec strategy, alongside daily, weekly and monthly full-disk offsite encrypted backups!
And yes indeed, Arch linux is the distro that was ordained to me!

16·13 days agoIt doesn’t cost $350/mo/person to produce these drugs. Manufacturers brazenly price gouge knowing no goverment body would retaliate.
This is a problem that can be solved by legislation and cutting out the middle-man(insurance companies) by expanding medicare for all.
Truly? The resistant starch molecules are so large physical grinding breaks them down?
Interesting. I wonder if I could do the same with wheat (flour) by hydrating it, cooking it, cooling it, dehydrating, and then grinding it back down into flour again to have healthier bread and pasta.
Can they then be reheated or are we doomed to eating cold potatoes if we want resistant starches?

01·1 month agoThank you very much for these links. I really like the ideas Matrix + Element, and I think they have the best shot of making something very usable. Hopefully this gets implemented one day and I can actually make the switch!
Edit: While clicking around I came across this: https://github.com/matrix-org/matrix-rust-sdk/issues/5397#issuecomment-3714128184
Does this mean it should be already implemented or am I reading it wrong?

01·1 month agoAgreed, but metadata not being encrypted remains a fact. Sure, metadata of a single message might not mean much, but when combined with metadata of many messages from many users you can find out a lot about a person and their habits. Especially when cross-referencing with other data sources (social media of other users, phone location, etc.).
