In the short term, we should probably focus on fixing our problems on earth. Some space research should still be funded, but not as a major priority. Once we finally have our shit together, we can start exploring the stars.

Kia EV3. It’s generally nice and I don’t want a different one. But I’d prefer not to drive a car if that were practical for me right now.

Probably Middle Earth/The Lord of the Rings. (1937-2026)
I really liked how the 48fps version of the Hobbit looked (even though the movies themselves were mediocre).

Not regularly or often, but yes. It’s actually legal from the age of 14 here (under parental supervision and only lower-alcohol stuff like beer). So I’d have a bit here or there for special occasions like New Year’s Eve. From the age of 16 you’re allowed to drink unsupervised. At that point some of my classmates already got drunk regularly. I never liked alcohol (or rather its effects) that much though and to this day I’ve never been drunk. These days I might drink something like a glass of wine every few weeks or so.

There’s a Pokemon fan forum that I originally joined around 2004 I believe. They’ve had a relaunch since then, so my current account is “only” from 2009 though. I’m still ocassionally active on there, along with like 5 other users.

Well, it comes from Spain. Even if all your American ancestors came from Norway (which is unlikely), people in Europe have been intermixing for millennia. “Pure blooded” people don’t exist.

That’s 2 different companies (Nintendo vs The Pokemon Company). But also yeah, obviously they have much more to gain when it’s about $200B.

This. Also older people falling for that kind of stuff was pretty much expected, but that came with the hope that those ideas will soon die out along with them. So fascism finding significant support among younger people (even if it’s not even close to the majority) kind of killed that hope.

Maybe so, but getting neither kind of terrible tattoo is always an option, isn’t it?

Imagine wearing some AI slop on your skin for the rest of your life…

Moderators do an important unpaid task as a service to the community. They don’t need a philosophy degree to do stuff like removing spam, doxxing or rude comments.
Sometimes there will be moderators who do end up going on a powertrip and ban everyone they don’t like. In those cases it’s probably best to just move on to different communities. If you feel a bit petty and want to complain, you can post it to /c/yepowertrippinbastards@lemmy.dbzer0.com

I would have said around 15-16, but I think it’s also important to note that there are many degrees of trust between blindly trusting everything the government does and becoming some kind of “sovereign citizen”.
I believe the government often doesn’t act in the people’s best interest and that many politicians are fundamentally corrupt. I do believe our institutions mostly manage to uphold our constitution though, and that my country has a functioning democracy. I don’t keep all my money in cash at home, that seems both paranoid and unsafe.
I use Firefox on all platforms.

Kuwait and UAE have US military bases. Iran doesn’t really have the ability to attack the US directly. Pretty sure they did also target Israel.
I honestly don’t remember the exact car model or even the manufacturer but it was nothing fancy. Some smallish car with manual transmission and no parking sensors or cameras. There weren’t any others to choose from. This was in 2012.

Why would someone “less smart” not deserve success?
This is the most recent PC release, which also released on Steam today. Adds a couple features, but also seems to have some technical issues. It’s free for owners of the previous release from 2013 though, so that’s something.
It can be used to manipulate the sorting order of posts and it can also be used for targeted harassment of users.
As someone who was banned after downvoting anywhere from 1-3 comments from a mod before, I’d take these claims that it’s a huge problem with a grain of salt though. Some people, including mods, just take downvotes very personally.
No empire lasts forever and I think the US’ is already in decline. A large part of America’s global power is its network of allies and Trump is doing massive damage to those relations. Places like Europe are pushing for more independence and self-sufficiency. The Gulf states are being bombed thanks to America starting a war - no doubt they’ll rethink their relations somewhat after that. At the same time, China’s power and network of allies is steadily growing, without them starting wars left and right. So even if the US elects a sane president again, I think the damage will have been done. They will never be as trusted by their allies as they had been in the post-WW2 world order and they will steadily lose their global influence.
