In Uni, 3 of my roommates were trans of varying types. General consensus in the trans community is that you use the bathroom that will cause fewest problems. For many that haven’t transitioned, this is often the gender assigned at birth. If you’re mid-transition or are still struggling with your presentation, ask a staff member (if there is a staff) or bring a friend if you can.

The youth are generally more progressive. Recently, every demographic has displayed an increase in right-wing participation. This isn’t so much of an age issue as it is a reactionary issue to educational and economic shortcomings from the last couple decades. Many right-wing populists are just really good at reaching people with distorted messaging, unfortunately.

Yep. When I visit my girlfriend’s family in Peru, I get looks because I’m mixed Caucasian (white skin but some asian features) and definitely not Latino. When I stayed in Germany, or visited Austria or Switzerland, I did not get the same looks or attitudes. I’ve been around, and I’ve found a lot of people’s initial attitudes towards you depends on how similar or different you are to them at face-value.

I want racists to be scared to show they’re racist, not comfortable. The less comfortable they are, the more comfortable everyone else is. What kind of logic are you following?

I live in Boston. The Greater Boston region genuinely cares more about education than any of other place I’ve lived in the US. Keep in mind that studying here, at any of the Universities, for higher education is ridiculously expensive - partly because so many people compete to be here.

Things like these are why we need to fund higher education. A knowledgeable populace brings innovation, a healthy economy, and diversity which creates a feedback loop for all of it
