It’s the screen(s) and the keyboard.
Squinting at the iPhone and then text typing sucks. PC is way more relaxing. Tablet is fine. With a case that turns it into a mini laptop and a cheap pencil.
Phones though? FFS why? If you can afford otherwise, why? I’m not sure how anyone reads an Apple Watch without a magnifying glass.
Most of all, it’s about control. I can’t stop YouTube ads on my phone. I don’t see them on the PC. Among other things.
For me a phone is just more convenient in a lot of cases due to portability. I’m also relatively young and have been touchscreen typing since forever, so it doesn’t feel very out of place.
Combine that with Revanced/Morphe for YT, uBlock + IronFox for browsing, and an adblocking DNS, and ads aren’t really an issue. Add in GrapheneOS for granular app permissions and spyware removal, and I actually do feel some semblance of control over my own device, which is a nice change from previous phones I’ve owned.
That said when I can use my Linux laptop I greatly prefer it for work/school/gaming. The phone is mostly for communication, web browsing, and the fediverse.
