I doubt it was silicone in that case. The melting point for silicone is like 1000 F.

Yeah, the table and chair legs don’t work at all.
I agree, but I’m trying to figure out why it looks delicious 🤔

Technology@lemmy.world•Asus Co-CEO: MacBook Neo Is a 'Shock' to the PC IndustryEnglish
2·5 days agoUnder 1GB on a modern build is pretty light. I run CachyOS and I’m pretty sure I idle at significantly more than that. Though I honestly haven’t checked, and don’t really want to close everything out to find out haha. I do know I’m currently using more than 8GB and not doing anything super heavy, but I do have multiple programs running. And multitasking is always going to be a killer for a system with low RAM limits. There is a reason my laptop has 32 and my desktop has 64.

4·5 days agoI know it was lighter than windows the last time I used Mac, but that has been quite a few years now. Hopefully it is a decent machine. Computing just keeps getting more expensive, so having more budget options is definitely good as long as they are reasonably functional.

912·5 days agoMy phone has more RAM than that. I can’t imagine running a computer with that little memory considering how poorly optimized software tends to be at this point.
I’m not sure what the overhead for Mac OS is, but that has to be basically rock bottom to be even considered functional unless you’re running one of the lighter Linux builds.
Lil’ subby Satan.
I appreciate that the new one is still sexy Lucifer, but there are chains now so I guess you’re supposed to know he is bad?
Religious painters and sculptors just have a thing for sexy men I guess.
If the genetics don’t matter, then on what basis would you ban the breed? If they aren’t breed conformant, then there is no basis to say they are genetically more predisposed to aggression than any other dog. The paper I posted earlier even says that mixing two breeds results in temperaments and behaviors unlike those of the parents and their distinct breeds.
That’s why I mentioned that I would have misidentified my own dogs if asked for their breed. There are lots of dogs with wide heads and muscular builds. And if people don’t know the breed, they will frequently just say its a pit because that’s what they are familiar with. Doesn’t mean it is true.
Again, I’m not saying the evidence is wrong, I just want much more stringent analysis and evidence in order to justify the hate and push to ban a subset of dogs.
Counterpoint, people are more likely to pick a breed with a reputation for being aggressive if the dog acted aggressive.
And being familiar with the dog doesn’t improve that likelihood they know what the breed is by a whole lot. The only reason I knew what the breed of my last couple of dogs were is because of genetic testing. And one of them was half pit, and I would absolutely have never guessed. He was half pit, half golden retriever and looked nothing like either breed.
One issue with studies like this is that people are really bad at identifying dog breeds, and that includes experts like veterinarians.
“Two ancillary findings, however, were that the second (F2) generation of the Cocker Spaniel–Basenji crosses took a “great variety of form and color” and that none of the 72 F2-generation puppies closely resembled either parental breed.”
“More recently, Voith et al compared, for dogs from multiple shelter locations, results of breed identification made on the basis of visual inspection alone with results of DNA analysis of breed. Although the number of dogs was small, the major breed determined on the basis of visual inspection matched the predominant breed identified by means of DNA analysis for only 25% of the dogs. This suggests that there is a high potential that results of visual identification of breed for shelter dogs of unknown lineage will differ from results of DNA analysis.”
So unless they identified them with breed papers or genetic testing, the breed identification is suspect at best. Not to say the results would be wrong, just that it needs more definitive study.

Technology@lemmy.world•New York Bill Would Force Age ID Checks at the Device LevelEnglish
191·7 days agoI don’t know if you’re intentionally misunderstanding what I am saying or what, but I’m not saying age verification is needed. I’m saying that for their age verification plan to function, there would need to be a verifying authority and identifying information would need to be passed from your device to them.
My first comment should have made it very clear that all of this is baseless garbage designed to further state surveillance goals.
So I know this is a shitpost, but a pelvic shot is taught by some militaries as part of an alternative failure drill (two shots to the chest, followed by one to the head if they continue to be a threat). Its a larger target than a headshot requires, and is rarely protected by armor. Plus, if you miss, the shot is more likely to hit the ground instead of continuing flight well beyond whoever you were shooting at.
So shitpost or not, its not the worst place to shoot.

12·7 days agoYeah, it would be like having a giant version of your ID projected over your head all the time. And someone following you around recording everywhere you go and everything you do.

Technology@lemmy.world•New York Bill Would Force Age ID Checks at the Device LevelEnglish
22·7 days agoWell to build a universal ID system, we would have to give everyone a unique digital ID that is then associated with their device. So even if it’s claimed it would only be used to verify age where required, its trivial to then use that unique ID to track other device activity and tie it to your real identity.
There has already been examples of law enforcement using cellphone tower data, commercial ad IDs, social media posts, and anything else they can get to track and locate people without warrants or legal justification. So this would just be another way to tie digital activity to your real identity.

Technology@lemmy.world•New York Bill Would Force Age ID Checks at the Device LevelEnglish
23·7 days agoOh, I wasn’t trying to be argumentative. I was just trying to answer that at the fundamental level there has to be someone trusted to verify your info, so the data can’t just stay on your device. Unless they just trust the user to state their own age which would defeat the purpose of the law.
The rest was mostly just because I’m so sick of the bullshit and I didn’t feel like making a separate comment in addition to replying to you. Sorry if I came off as hostile to you.

I was referring to their packer. Some are silicone, some are a blend, some are made of other things.
